Financial Director John Dunnill comes to the company from outside the audio visual field
and brings not only financial and planning strengths to the company, but also considerable
experience of network digital information transfer and data communications. This is proving
extremely valuable in the realisation of the company’s development plans, allowing the
expertise of the other principals to be brought to bear in the fast emerging Multimedia
Communications market.
John’s most recent position was as Managing Director of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa
division) for ACT Networks, a public company listed on NASDAQ. He oversaw a growth of more
than 50% year on year during his tenure, and principal clients included: Nortel Dasa,
Deutsche Telecom, Orion, Finnet, GE Spacenet, Tadiran, Ascom, Spaceline, Nokia and Worldcom.
He left ACT Networks in February 1999 to devote more time to White Mark.
John came to this position as Vice President of EMEA for Sourcecom, which was acquired
by ACT Networks in July 1997. At Sourcecom he was involved in the pioneering work conducted
in such fields as Broadband DSL, Multimedia and High Speed Routers. He started Sourcecom
Europe and saw the division rise to deliver more than 40% of the group turnover. Principal
clients included Ericsson, Westel, Nokia, Ascom, Alcatel, Pairgain and Controlware.
Prior to this John spent 11 years at Motorola Information Systems group in a variety of
senior National and International positions, completing his time there as Director of
Business Development for the EMEA region based in Paris. His role was the strategic
development of the Multimedia and Network Access business units throughout the region.
The responsibility for the negotiation of all major contracts, opening of new regions
(e.g. the reopening of South Africa) and the selection and development of strategic
partners were the key objectives in this role. Over 20 months the business grew from
under $20m to over $75m, this success coming mainly from the Telcos and the Systems
Integrators/OEMs. Key successes at this time included SITA, BT, Reuters, Siemens,
Digital, Dow Jones Telerate, Italia Telecom, Meganet, Transpac, Telefonica, S.A.
Telkom and Deutsche Telecom.
This post was proceeded by a two year period as International product manager for the
Network Access products for EMEA and Asia, this role involved much travel and first
hand experience of the international cultural diversity of doing business around the
world and managing a distributed multinational team. Before moving from the UK to
Paris to take up this role John spent two years as the Sales Manager for the Retail
and Finance vertical markets based in the UK. Key clients at this time were Sainsbury's,
Abbey National, Marks and Spencer, Reuters, Quotron, BHS, Boots, LIFFE, BASS, the
London Stock Exchange and Compuserve. For the 5 years prior to this he held a series
of senior commercial positions within Motorola in the UK.
John is now based near Montreux. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing,
and was the co-founder of White Mark Limited with David Bell in April 1997.
